Four star Hotel Skeppsholmen is situated on a peaceful and lush island in the middle of Stockholm in a 17th century government listed historic building with modern interior; combining a national landmark in a natural setting with the very best of contemporary Swedish cuisine, art, design, fashion and leisure.
Långa Raden, meaning The Long Row, are the two long buildings on the islet Skeppsholmen which is part of the Swedish capital. Långa Raden were initially built in 1699 for King Karl XII, or Charles XII, to accommodate his 200 bodyguards. However they were mostly away on the battlefield with their king and the buildings became homes for the poor and homeless. Since then they had many different purposes – a hospital, offices and storehouses for the Navy etc. – but Långa Raden are nowadays home to a lovely hotel, named after the island, Skeppsholmen.
Eco-labelled and a member of Design Hotels with a sleek and sparsely furnished interior by architects Claesson Koivisto Rune who have been creative with wood and glass and added charming blue Misura chairs, as a marvellous contrast with the hotels original backdrop of stone walls and curved staircases. As a tribute to Långa Raden’s long and colourful past the hotel dedicated each hotel room to a prominent person from its past. And the hotel’s taste and style goes further than the interior design, with its staff dressed in the cool Swedish ACNE brand.
Hotel Skeppsholmen boasts a tennis court located right by the waterfront; this is the first outdoor tennis court in Sweden, built by King Oscar II in 1882, and an award-winning restaurant named Långa Raden which serves divine modern Swedish cuisine and a fantastic Sunday brunch in salon-style rooms where the art on the walls is for sale. That little extra: In the rooms you find a generous assortment of insider tips to the best in Swedish food, fashion, art etc.
