Spain is currently the most interesting wine country in the world according to many of the leading international critics.

The country has long been known for its Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva age classification, but in the last few years has seen a wave of new producers skipping these classifications in favour of emphasising the more exact location and the terroir, whilst turning to more authentic, unique offerings, often through much simpler winemaking. The result has been lighter, more transparent wines that take the term ‘terroir driven’ to the next level, premium wines with a focus on drinkability – some of the best wines we’ve seen from Spain.

It goes without saying that you don’t want to stop drinking your old tried-and-true reserva favourite, but finding your way in the incredibly varied new Spanish wine world can be challenging even for the most experienced at-home expert.

With Try Spanish! we want to make it easier to find the new gems and at the same time present classic wines that may be difficult to get hold of, or wines that are produced in such small volumes that they never make it to the shelves in the shops outside Spain. Smaller productions are rare to find especially in the Nordic countries’ monopoly stores where great consumer demand always requires large volumes.

At the same time, we want to create a digital meeting place where producers can communicate their message with consumers through video wine tastings and personal invitations to wineries and events.

Mixed wine boxes with the best of new and classic Spain will be created together with our local experts. Our first boxes come from the Rioja and Montsant/Priorat regions and will be available to order online for home delivery in Sweden and France to start with. The launch in all Nordic countries and more countries in continental Europe is planned.

We believe and hope that our new Spanish wine initiative Try Spanish! will take you as a wine lover on an inspiring and exciting journey through Spain’s new fantastic wine world.
